Being a single mum is no walk in the park and being a celebrity single mum isn’t always any easier.

As most singles mothers would agree, there is no out!  There is no one to help you discipline, or pass the baton to when you just cannot handle arguing that ‘no means no anymore.’  You are on 24/7 and realise that you can finally breath a sign of relief once you have dropped your “precious one/ones” off to day care or school drop off.

Most of these super star celebrities do have the access to the best nannies in the business, but are still very hands on, so there is no need to be hard on yourselves when they’re being spotted with a fresh blow-dry and their child in one arm. Needless to say that ALL mums are inspiring – and why wouldn’t they be when they are notorious for putting everyone else’s needs before their own.

Growing up in a single parent family, my amazing mother raised my brother and myself on her own through our teenage years.  She did this without complaint, whilst working as a high school teacher and dealing with numerous teenager’s mood swings daily, then coming home each night to cook dinner (not to mention waking up before the crack of dawn for laps of the 25m swimming pool.)  How can I not commend this lady, for all her sacrifices and perseverance with us both – in my heart she will always be the strongest woman I know.

Now, none of us really know what a day in the life of a celebrity is actually like, but I’m sure it consists of starting before 6am, hitting the gym to ensure you always stay in shape, having to drop the kids off to school, then rushing to work to have dozens of people tell you how to look, what to say and where to be.

The team here at Lyfestyled thought that it would nice to take a minute and let you know who we think are KILLING it as single mothers in the spotlight whether it be by choice, heartbreak loss or divorce…

Sandra Bullock

Blind sighted by her cheating husband Jesse James, she filed for divorce and revealed she had secretly adopted a baby boy from New Orleans.  Beautiful Louis Bardo is definately the only important man in this super mums life.

Michelle Williams

Williams met and fell in love with our own Health Ledger on the Calgary set of 2005’s Brokeback Mountain.  Devastating news surfaced after the events of 22 Jan, 2008 – when it was reported that Ledger died from from an accidental intoxication from prescription drugs.

Although their three-year relationship didn’t last, Williams and Ledger always put their daughters needs first and now this single mum to Matilda Rose, has suffered more than anyone should – so we extend our hats to her, and send her our warmest wishes and love.

Denise Richards

Actress, model, and reality-star single mum Denise has raised her three daughters of former Two and Half Men star Charlie Sheen with full legal custody.  This wonderful hands on mummy has also been known to lend a helping hand to Sheen’s twin boys, whose mother is Brooke Mueller.  Sam, Lola and Eloise are three very lucky and happy siblings.

Katie Holmes

From the days of Dawson’s Creek to marrying her A-Lister  hubby Tom Cruise, this fairy tale wedding didn’t have a happily-ever-after.  But on the bright side, Katie and Tom produced a beautiful daughter named Suri, who we all know as a little hollywood fashionista.

“You do the best you can. Some days you feel really good about yourself and some days you don’t.” says Holmes

Gwyneth Paltrow

Desperately sad news when we heard that Gwyneth was separating from Coldplay’s Chris Martin.  The parents of Apple and Moses used the title “Conscious Uncoupling” to publicly announced their separation.

“We have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate,” they wrote. “We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been.”

“What that really means is, ‘Even though today, you hate me and you never want to see me again, like, we’re going to brunch, ’cause it’s Sunday and that’s what we’ll do!'” Paltrow says.

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet surprisingly split from her director husband Sam Mendes  in 2011, after being married for 9 years.  They produced an adorable boy, Jon Alfie, and the admirable Kate’s was determined to make the split as amicable as possible for their children.  Winslet also has a daughter Mia from her previous marriage to director Jim Threapleton.

This blonde wonder woman says she manages her domestic life so well, she tricks her children into believing she does not have a career. She added in an interview with Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper
